Become A Project Producer
The SC Meat Goat Project offers two choices for youth wanting to participate in the project, Open Project Wether, or SC4ME wether (has to be born and bred in SC). Participants are encouraged to build relationships with breeders and to develop skills for selecting their project animals. During the summer, youth will have the opportunity to tag and weigh in their meat goat for the project. Youth are encouraged to recognize the breeder/producer of their project animal on their social media post. At the annual SC 4-H/FFA Meat Goat Project Banquet producer/breeders are recognized for successful animals that have been registered in the project. We also have a South Carolina born wether component to our project called SC4ME. This program offers youth the opportunity to exhibit goats born and bred in South Carolina. This program will not only grant an additional showing opportunity for the youth of the project, but it will also recognize the pride of South Carolina producers by working with them to create a premium for their livestock.
